Today it's a quite day, no breaking news about the Ducati Scrambler project. The only news I found on the internet are two fantastic bikes. Well ok, it's old news but worthy to post in this blog.

Creativ Garage located in the vicinity of Paris are selling this nice kit. When you install this kit your bike will get an instant and unique makeover.

For all the Ducati Srambler owners in Europe in search for aftermarket parts a good alternative than Mugello.

We can find the next atelier in Brasil, Sao Paulo, by the name of Shibuya Garage. This artist made a racy Scrambler. I am crazy about that exhaust box. Its so radical. Check them out on http://shibuyagarage.com.br/

We made a little step forward in the project. The seat pan is getting the desired shape. Sander decided to make the seat pan from two alloy plates. I’m so curious how he will make one piece of it. With a small strip folded around the edges the base plate will gain some extra strength so it can easily support the weight of the driver.

To be continued…

Just joking!

The next challenge will be the seat pan. Sander the mechanic insists to make an alloy seat pan, no plastic fantastic will be allowed in this project. With a piece of cardboard he started bending and shaping the base for the seat. What a craftsman!

I made contact with a small company named Sparte Motorcycle in France to fabricate the seat.

Like Star Twin these guys have a lot of passion for their product.

Direct from the start the guys from Sparte reacted very enthusiastic to participate in this Ducati Scrambler project. At the end I will have an international bike. Made in Italy, customized in Holland with parts from Italy, The United States and France. What an adventure!

Most of the time it’s a big puzzle to put all the original components back in a smaller space. We managed to fit the computer, ABS pump and battery case into the tight frame. Sander made a plate for underneath the frame and it will be mounted with flat bolds. The frame is getting the elegant shape what I had in mind. As Hannibal from the A-team would say: "I love it when a plan comes together".

This is the progress Sander, the mechanic of Star Twin Motors reached so far. We finally got rid of the original cross and shaped a new triangle for the subframe to make space for all the components. We even have space within the subframe for the computer. Great job!

We are making little progress with the redesign of the subframe. At first we wanted to preserve the original cross in the subframe, but after all we decided to cut this piece off the frame. Sander our mechanic is doing a fantastic job. The cognito loop has a little upsweep and Sander also finished the triangle for left side of the bike.

Cutting the subframe was relative easy. The assembly of the new loop with a slight upsweep at the rear will be a challenge.

Today is the big day. Sander, the mechanic from Star Twin, will chop off the ugly rear of the bike. The loop from Cognito Moto will be welded on the subframe. I recently discovered that the loops are fabricated by Meyerbuilt Metalworks. http://meyerbuiltmetalworks.com/
This loop is also used in the Hero01 project from Holographic Hammer.

After some negotiations about the price to turn this machine into a custom bike we made a plan for the metamorphose. The Ducati Scrambler has been mounted with a lot of Rizoma parts.

In an earlier post, I mentioned AEM as an excellent alternative for aftermarket parts http://www.aem-factory.com/ . Most of the parts wil be reused, only the subframe will be cut off.

I had enough time to inspire myself for my ultimate dream bike, now it’s time to buy one.

I went to a small village in Holland named Loenen. Here we find one of the best Ducati specialist in Holland. http://www.startwin.com/

They had a black demo Scrambler with low mileage for sale. But when I arrived I saw this army green Rizoma styled bike. This was the bike I was searching for! A perfect basis to build a custom Ducati Scrambler.

Not all concepts were realized. And from this beautiful Zeus Ducati Scrambler I even didn’t found a drawing of a concept. It became one of my favourites. Zeus build two Scrambler versions. http://zeus-custom.com/my-product/the-passion-of-rocker-cafe-racer-project-by-zeus-custom/

I wondered what makes a custom-made Ducati Scrambler so unique. When we search on the internet we find so many versions of this bike. Here are my top 5 concepts of the Ducati Scrambler that I found on the internet and Instagram.

Number 1, my favourite bike Hero 01 from Holographic Hammer. I found the owner of this bike on Instagram @martynj https://www.instagram.com/p/BKVP_2PB105/?taken-by=martynj

Number 2, a concept by a French designer Barabara Custom Motorcycles. https://www.facebook.com/barbara.motorcycles/ This had to be the new Srambler from Ducati.

Number 3, also from Holographic Hammer. This bike was designed for AEM factory. AEM manufactures high quality parts for Ducati.

Number 4, beautiful racer concept from Gannet and made by Walzwerk.

Number 5, maybe better than number 4 but it's still a concept. Again fantastic drawings from Barbara.
